I happily await the Gulf of Mexico coming to my doorstep. That being said, it's really just rolling coal that bugs the crap out of me, not diesels in general. Because it's done purely to show off or be a douche.

The problem is that people here love diesels. They might not like trucks with stacks, but who doesn't want a vehicle with 1000+ lb-ft of torque that can run a 10 second 1/4 mile?

I have as well. In fact I know chicks that actively prefer a coal rolling idiot to a normal person. These people, more than climate change or liberals or gun toting right wing crazies, make me fear for the future.

Fair enough. I don't really fit into any demographic...I'm a native Texan who weighs 310lbs (lost 20 in the last month, pleased with that), I drive a Fiat 500, shoot guns, farm chickens, support gay rights, and vote with my brain instead of a party line. Come to Houston, midtown is great. Plenty of good places to eat, you can catch the train to go to the Football stadium and there's lots of great ice houses to go drink at with your friends.

My hatred of these things comes from a lifted F350 driver that had to "roll coal" into my open passenger side window. Whether or not it was on purpose, I dunno, but got fuck those things.

I've heard that the black smoke a diesel produces may not be as bad as the exhaust produced by a gas engine without cats. It just looks worse because you can see carbon particulates in the air. I'm not saying it's a good thing, it just looks much worse than it really is.
